Basketball Recap: Madysen Holt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Montgomery over Western Boone

North Montgomery was the 51-30 winner over Western Boone when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers fell just short of the Western Boone Stars by a score of 37-34 on Friday. The Chargin' Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Montgomery's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madysen Holt, who posted five points. What's more, Holt also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Krestyn Bradford was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Western Boone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ally Lewis led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Olivia Reagan, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

North Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Western Boone, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

North Montgomery wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 39-27 win against Delphi Community on the 4th. As for Western Boone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-36 loss against North Montgomery on the 7th.
