Baseball Game Preview: Henley Hornets vs. Phoenix Pirates

Henley is a perfect 10-0 against Phoenix since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hornets will challenge the Pirates at 2:00 p.m. Henley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Henley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Junction City, who was ranked ninth at the time (Henley was ranked tenth). The Hornets walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Ty Teaters looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Carson Siems was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Derrick Cox also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Henley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Phoenix came up short against North Bend on Tuesday and fell 7-3.

Phoenix saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Charlton, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Henley's record is now 8-2. As for Phoenix, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.

Henley got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Phoenix by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
