Softball Recap: Fuquay - Varina Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fuquay - Varina had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-1 back in March.

Kylie McGrogan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fuquay - Varina got a massive performance out of Alysah Sturdivant, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Sturdivant a new career-high. Chloe Webb was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Fuquay - Varina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Fuquay - Varina's record is now 10-5. As for Southeast Raleigh, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Fuquay - Varina wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against South Garner on the 21st. As for Southeast Raleigh, they will square off against Hillside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
