Basketball Recap: Vina Takes a Loss

Vina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 63-28 loss at the hands of the Hackleburg Panthers. The Red Devils were probably out for revenge after losing 51-20 to them when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Vina saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Layla Hester posted 12 points. Hester has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 24 times she's played.

Vina's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Hackleburg, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vina won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tremont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hackleburg, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Phillips at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
