Softball Recap: Bishop O'connell Beats Paul VI for Their 29th Straight Win

Bishop O'Connell put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Paul VI Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Annie Van Dyck looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ari Clark was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Bond, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Bishop O'Connell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Bishop O'Connell's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Paul VI, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop O'Connell will welcome Elizabeth Seton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Elizabeth Seton will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Bishop O'Connell surely won't give up without a fight. As for Paul VI, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Osbourn Park at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paul VI's pitchers better be ready for this one: Osbourn Park has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
