Basketball Recap: Griggs County Central/Midkota Takes a Loss

Griggs County Central/Midkota fought the good fight in their overtime match against Drayton/Valley-Edinburg on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Drayton/Valley-Edinburg Titans. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Aleah Pokrzywinski was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Greta Burrell, who put up four points.

Griggs County Central/Midkota dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Drayton/Valley-Edinburg, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Griggs County Central/Midkota will head out on the road to square off against Medina/Pingree-Buchanan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Drayton/Valley-Edinburg, they will host Midway/Minto at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
