Basketball Recap: Tarik Sesay's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alexandria City over Robinson

Alexandria City was the 67-31 winner over Robinson when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Alexandria City Titans fell 62-49 to the Robinson Rams on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Rams are ranked 79th).

Alexandria City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tarik Sesay, who went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points and five boards. Kaiden Thompson was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Alexandria City's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Robinson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Alexandria City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-58 victory against Chantilly on the 18th. As for Robinson, they will challenge West Potomac at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Potomac will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Robinson surely won't give up without a fight.
