            Softball Recap: Pottstown Trojans vs. Pope John Paul II        
        
		
        
        
            Pottstown had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but  on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-7 to make it seven. They lost  17-1 to Pope John Paul II. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing  22-3 to Pope John Paul II when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Pope John Paul II, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
For Pope John Paul II's part,  Gracyn McFall looked comfortable as she  struck out eight batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. Those  eight  strikeouts gave  McFall a new career-high.
 At the plate, Pope John Paul II let  Grace Fitzgerald and  Mariesa Osorio run wild. Fitzgerald  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and one  double, while  Osorio  went a perfect 2-for-2 with six  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles. That's the most  hits  Osorio has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Abby Simmers, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
 Pottstown has  already played their next  match (against Upper Perkiomen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pope John Paul II, they have also already played their next game,  a  5-2  loss against Methacton on the 16th.
