Baseball Game Preview: Orange Park Raiders vs. Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles

The Orange Park Raiders will square off against the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Orange Park didn't have quite enough to beat Middleburg and fell 3-1.

Corey Hopkins was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Paxon School For Advanced Studies had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Christ's Church Academy 6-5.

Dominic Craig looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Robert Bryson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Robert Ward was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Paxon School For Advanced Studies' win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Orange Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Orange Park beat Paxon School For Advanced Studies 7-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
