Volleyball Recap: Conard Red Wolves vs. Avon Falcons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glastonbury, Conard was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Avon Falcons 3-2. The Red Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.
Conard took Avon into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 24-26, 15-25, 15-6.
Conard can attribute much of their success to Aubrey M, who had five digs and three aces. Those three aces gave M a new career-high.
She wasn't the only good server: Conard was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Despite the loss, Avon still got an impressive performance from Ainsley Evans, who had ten digs.
Conard's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Avon, they dropped their record down to 9-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conard will welcome Southington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
