Soccer Game Preview: Vidor vs. Lumberton

The Vidor Pirates will square off against the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vidor has given up an average of 4.3 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Vidor is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bridge City on Friday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 8-0. The shutout was out of character for the Pirates seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in January.

Meanwhile, Lumberton kept a clean sheet against Hardin-Jefferson on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over the Hawks. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won six in a row.

Lumberton's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Vidor, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Vidor might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Lumberton when the teams last played back in February. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Vidor was down 8-0.
