             The El Monte Lions will venture away from home to  take on the San Gabriel Matadors  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. El Monte's defense has only allowed 14.2  points per game  this season, so San Gabriel's offense will have their work cut out for them.
 El Monte is probably headed into the  game with a chip on their shoulder considering Baldwin Park just ended the team's  three-game winning streak  on Friday. They had to suffer through a   44-13 loss at the hands of the Braves. The defensive woes were  uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this  contest were averaging 14.25  points allowed.
 Although El Monte took the loss, they still got scores from  Noah Munoz and  David Flores.
 Even if they lost, El Monte's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department,  Nathan Jimenez was the leader with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to  total tackles, as he's  now  made five or more in the last eight games he's  played dating back to last season. El Monte got some further help from  Julian Perez: he forced a fumble and made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
 Meanwhile, San Gabriel and Carpinteria were almost perfectly matched up last Saturday, but San Gabriel suffered  a  21-20 loss. The Matadors have now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 El Monte's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 3-1. As for San Gabriel, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
