Football Game Preview: Cushing Tigers vs. Grove Ridgerunners

The Cushing Tigers will take on the Grove Ridgerunners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Cushing is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Skiatook 42-7. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Roman Tucker had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 324 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 16.2 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 98 yards and one score on only 11 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 51 yards. Cushing's leading receiver Gage Sharp was Tucker's top target yet again, picking up 80 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cushing proved: they limited Skiatook to a paltry -0.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Kellen Fry for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cushing didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.

Cushing's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Baker Butler was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Butler is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Fry was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles.

Meanwhile, while Grove put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Catoosa. The Ridgerunners blew past the Indians 48-0. Considering the Ridgerunners have won three matchups by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cushing's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Grove, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
