Basketball Recap: Whiteville Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Whiteville dropped to 1-2 on Friday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 37-19 bruising from the West Brunswick Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Wolfpack couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Whiteville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Trayvionne Williams posted six points.

As for West Brunswick, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those 37 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

West Brunswick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew McKenney, who put up eight points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jerrison Dixon, who had 12 points.

Looking ahead, Whiteville will head out to take on West Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Brunswick, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against North Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. The Trojans' defense better be ready for this one: the Chiefs have averaged an impressive 51.8 points per game this season.
