Lafayette came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Gainesville Hurricanes with a sharp 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Tuten made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Murphy, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Lafayette's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Gainesville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Lafayette wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Hamilton County on the 4th. As for Gainesville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-3 win against Eastside on the 4th.
