Rowan County is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while East Carter is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Vikings will host the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rowan County will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Fleming County on Tuesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Panthers. The Vikings have beaten the Panthers the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Kassi Perkins made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauryn Eastham, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Diamond Wills, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Rowan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fleming County only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, while East Carter put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Raceland. The Raiders put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 7-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Raiders have posted against the Rams since May 31, 2018.
East Carter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Rowan County, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.
Rowan County skirted past East Carter 8-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
