Softball Recap: Baker County's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Baker County barely beat Columbia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Tigers on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Rylee Walker looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Baleigh Shields and Nasia Green did most of the damage at the plate: Shields went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Green went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Green has posted since back in February. Keyla Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Baker County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted a batting average of .167.

Baker County's record is now 16-4. As for Columbia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.

Baker County and Columbia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Wildcats will challenge Hilliard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (20 vs. 295). Meanwhile, Columbia (ranked 78th) will meet Bolles (ranked 427th) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
