Softball Recap: Maynard Find Success

Maynard's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the West Boylston Lions 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 9th.

Jillian Macfarlane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.

At the plate, Maynard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Ryleigh Raschi, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Maynard's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for West Boylston, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maynard will square off against Tahanto Regional at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Boylston, they will take on Gardner at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
