Baseball Recap: Thomaston Takes a Loss

Thomaston had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-8 to make it seven. They lost 10-0 to the Nonnewaug Chiefs. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

As for Nonnewaug, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Nonnewaug's part, Brady Herman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave Herman a new career-high. Derek Chung was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Thomaston will face off against Gilbert-Northwestern Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Nonnewaug, they will take on Terryville at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
