Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Maplewood

Maplewood extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 10-3 in the process. They never let the Badger Braves get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in April.

The result came thanks to Kenyan Clover's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maplewood's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zach Suba, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Suba has snagged this season.

Maplewood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

As for Badger, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since May 14, 2024.

On Badger's side, Tyler McWilliams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maplewood will welcome Pymatuning Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Badger, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mathews at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
