Softball Recap: Unionville-Sebewaing Beats Vassar for Their Fifth Straight Win

Unionville-Sebewaing had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Vassar Vulcans. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vulcans, too.

Maddie Tenbusch made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Unionville-Sebewaing let Olivia Green and Erin Jubar run wild. Green went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Jubar went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Green has posted since back in May of 2024. Morgan Armbruster was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Unionville-Sebewaing kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Unionville-Sebewaing's record is now 11-8. As for Vassar, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Unionville-Sebewaing will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vulcans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
