Basketball Game Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. Lumberton Pirates

Jack Britt is 1-9 against Lumberton since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jack Britt Buccaneers will venture away from home to face off against the Lumberton Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Jack Britt has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Jack Britt is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Lee County by a score of 69-67 last Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Buccaneers still had to take the loss.

Jack Britt's loss came about despite a quality game from Michael Tubbs, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Julius Williams, who went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points.

Even though they lost, Jack Britt was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lumberton hadn't done well against Seventy-First recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Lumberton managed a 57-52 win over Seventy-First. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Lumberton's win came from a few key players Jack Britt will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaiden Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. He has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 38 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Hammonds, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Lumberton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Jack Britt, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
