Basketball Recap: South Platte Blue Knights vs. Paxton Tigers
South Platte was the 54-49 winner over Paxton when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The South Platte Blue Knights came up short against the Paxton Tigers on Saturday, falling 47-27. The game marked the Blue Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite the loss, South Platte saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayla Paulsen almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.
Even though they lost, South Platte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paxton only pulled down five offensive boards.
Paxton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Clouse out in front who posted ten points. What's more, Clouse also posted a 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in January of 2024. Ella Fote was another key player, putting up ten points.
South Platte's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Paxton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Platte will take on Bayard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paxton, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
