Football Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Lubbock-Cooper's Winning Streak

Lubbock-Cooper was the 30-17 winner over Plainview when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 492nd).

Lubbock-Cooper moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Plainview, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, Lubbock-Cooper and Plainview will both be playing Legacy the next time they take the field. The Pirates will host the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
