Basketball Recap: Parker Kines' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wheatmore over Providence Grove

Wheatmore lost against Providence Grove last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wheatmore Warriors took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Grove Patriots.

Wheatmore's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Kines, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. The game was Kines' sixth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Stepp, who posted 15 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Wheatmore was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Providence Grove's also-impressive total of 11.

It was another big night for Will Dabbs, who went 8-for-13 en route to 25 points for Providence Grove. The dominant performance also gave Dabbs a new career-high in shooting accuracy (62%). Another player making a difference was Ryder Jones, who earned ten points and eight boards.

Wheatmore dropped their record down to 10-15 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Providence Grove, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.

Wheatmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Providence Grove, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 71-50 defeat against Randleman on the 18th.
