Basketball Recap: Northern Guilford Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Northern Guilford was feeling good fresh off their 94-70 takedown of Western Guilford last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Nighthawks came up short against the Oak Grove Grizzlies on Tuesday, falling 62-40. The Nighthawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Oak Grove had a senior duo take command as Cam Cannady shot 56% from the field en route to 17 points and Toot Clay went 6-for-8 to rack up 14 points and eight boards. Cannady is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Jyden Barnes was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Northern Guilford will face off against Western Guilford at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Nighthawks will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Oak Grove, they have already played their next game, a 75-72 win against Randleman on the 3rd.
