Basketball Recap: Emma Herpin Key Part of a Team Effort in Crusaders Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coronado, Faith Lutheran was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They secured a 42-37 W over the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Diamondbacks, too.

Faith Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Herpin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Herpin is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Caylyn Young also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Several Diamondbacks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mia Baskerville, who posted 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Upham, who scored six points and ten boards.

The victory got Faith Lutheran back to even at 9-9. As for Desert Oasis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Faith Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-25 loss against Centennial on the 16th. Desert Oasis has also already played their next contest, a 65-29 win against Pahrump Valley on the 14th.
