Softball Recap: Harvest Community Beats Eagle's View for Their Sixth Straight Win

Harvest Community had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Eagle's View on Thursday. Everything went Harvest Community's way against Eagle's View as Harvest Community made off with an 18-5 win. Harvest Community might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Rebekah Harmer and Naomi Winburn made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Harmer struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, Winburn pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Harmer scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Winburn scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Harmer posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marley Elliott, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Cassidy McCartney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Harvest Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eagle's View struck out 11 times.

The victory (which was Harvest Community's sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle's View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Harvest Community will host Cedar Creek Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Harvest Community's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Cedar Creek Christian has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Eagle's View, they will venture away from home to square off against Parsons Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Eagle's View has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
