Softball Recap: Basic Takes a Loss

Basic extended their losing streak to 16 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boulder City Eagles. The Wolves were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2018.

As for Boulder City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games.

For Boulder City's part, Rhiley Beck and Payton Rogers made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Beck didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Rogers didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Beck has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Beck got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Rogers got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Basic has already played their next contest (against Palo Verde), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Boulder City, they will head out on the road to square off against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
