Basketball Recap: Wesclin Takes a Loss

Wesclin was the 72-56 winner over Sparta when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wesclin Warriors lost to the Sparta Bulldogs on the road by a 70-55 margin on Thursday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sparta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damian Lanton, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 23 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was DJ Hayes, who went 9-for-12 en route to 22 points.

Wesclin's loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Sparta, they pushed their record up to 18-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Wesclin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sparta, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Red Bud at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sparta is facing Red Bud at the right time seeing as Red Bud is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
