Baseball Game Preview: Buena Bulldogs vs. Santa Barbara Dons

Buena hasn't had much luck against Santa Barbara recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Dons at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Buena earned an 8-4 victory over Nordhoff. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Miguel Magallanes looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andres Carrillo, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Elijah Garcia was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Barbara). They blew past Buena 14-5 on Tuesday. The Dons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27, 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Santa Barbara and bumps their season record up to 12-6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Buena, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Buena suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Santa Barbara in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
