Softball Recap: Woodlands Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Woodlands Academy dropped their record down to 4-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Regina Dominican Panthers, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Regina Dominican, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Regina Dominican's part, Addison Volkers made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Volkers has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Regina Dominican got a massive performance out of Izzie Christensen, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Fraterrigo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodlands Academy will challenge Francis W. Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Regina Dominican, they will venture away from home to take on Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
