Softball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Pahrump Valley Trojans
Sunrise Mountain extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Pahrump Valley Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 two weeks ago.
As for Pahrump Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games.
For Pahrump Valley's part, Danika Cox-Hosino and Ryleigh Denton did most of the damage at the plate: Cox-Hosino went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Denton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Denton a new career-high. Riley Saldana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will challenge The Meadows School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
