Softball Recap: Covington's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Covington proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Crawfordsville Athenians 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 1st.

Covington got a massive performance out of Caydence Peaslee, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Peaslee has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Haley Holycross, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The win (which was Covington's third in a row) raised their record to 6-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Crawfordsville, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Coming up, Covington will head out to square off against Seeger at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Crawfordsville, they will be playing at home against Lebanon at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Athenians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
