Softball Recap: Hampden Takes a Loss

Hampden was the 10-8 winner over Old Town when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Broncos have lost by just one run.

Aubrey Shaw stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Coon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Hampden and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Old Town, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Hampden has already played their next match, an 11-3 victory against Lewiston on the 3rd. As for Old Town, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Mount Desert Island on the 3rd.
