Basketball Recap: Michigan City Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Michigan City won the last time they faced Gary West Side, and Paulecia Isom did her part to make sure it happened again. The Michigan City Wolves breezed by the Gary West Side Cougars to the tune of 65-38 on Friday thanks in part to Isom, who posted 28 points along with eight steals and six assists. Those 28 points gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Divine Woods, who went 8 for 16 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Michigan City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-16 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive boards: they averaged an imposing 10.2 offensive rebounds in those games compared to only 10.2 in the others. As for Gary West Side, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Michigan City will square off against South Bend Adams at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gary West Side, they will face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
