Volleyball Recap: Brazos Christian Starts off Right with Win over Mumford

Brazos Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They won by a set and slipped past the Mumford Mustangs 3-2. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brazos Christian was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-19, 22-25, 25-27, 25-12, 15-12.

Mumford lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nancy Galvan, who had 35 digs and two assists. She has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Looking ahead, Brazos Christian will take on Riesel in a tournament on Friday. As for Mumford, they will challenge Beckville at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
