Baseball Recap: Newsome Comes Up Short

Newsome was the 4-0 winner over King when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolves fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by just one run.

Newsome got a good showing from JP GLASSFORD, who struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. GLASSFORD has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Newsome and nudges their season record down to 16-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for King, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-11.

Coming up, Newsome will be playing at home against Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wolves have won ten straight at home dating back to last season, while the Bulls won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for King, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-5 loss against Jefferson on the 5th.
