Basketball Recap: Oskaloosa's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Oskaloosa had lost five straight headed into Friday's game, but Derrick Harvey didn't let it get to six. The Oskaloosa Bears blew past the Atchison County Tigers 66-33 on Friday thanks in part to Harvey, who went 11 of 13 en route to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Haynes, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Oskaloosa picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Atchison County, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Oskaloosa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 68-26 loss against Jefferson West on the 21st. As for Atchison County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Horton on February 7th.
