Softball Recap: Berlin Brothersvalley Snags 14th Win in Last 15 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Berlin Brothersvalley walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Meyersdale Red Raiders on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-1 win. Considering the Mountaineers have won 19 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elena Ritchey was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Coral Prosser was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Elsie Barna was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Berlin Brothersvalley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 15 consecutive contests.

Berlin Brothersvalley is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Meyersdale, they moved to 14-6 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Berlin Brothersvalley nor the Red Raiders have any future games scheduled.
