Softball Recap: Tucker County Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Tucker County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Preston Knights 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won six in a row.

Peyton Hicks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Hicks was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Loucks, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sutton Pase was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory got Tucker County back to even at 8-8. As for Preston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Tucker County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Preston, they will take on Philip Barbour at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
