Basketball Game Preview: Whitman Vikings vs. Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons

Whitman and Bethesda-Chevy Chase are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Whitman Vikings will be playing at home against the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Whitman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 games -- so hopefully Bethesda-Chevy Chase likes a good challenge.

Whitman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-45 victory over Churchill. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Titian DeRosa went supernova for Whitman, shooting 70% from the field to rack up 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most points DeRosa has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Max Williams, who earned nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Bethesda-Chevy Chase entered their tilt with Quince Orchard on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-48 W against the Cougars.

Whitman is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points over those games. Bethesda-Chevy Chase's win bumped their record up to 13-10.
