Softball Recap: Mammoth Huskies vs. Desert Scorpions

Mammoth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell victim to a rough 11-2 defeat at the hands of the Desert Scorpions. Mammoth was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Desert apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

For Desert's part, Alayna Phillips made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Phillips has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances. Phillips was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Rachel Hewes was a standout: she scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Rogers, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
