Volleyball Game Preview: Alpine Bucks vs. Coahoma Bulldogs

The Alpine Bucks will square off against the Coahoma Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alpine is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

Alpine won the last time they faced Van Horn and Naida Morris did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bucks came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday thanks in part to Morris, who had 56 assists and eight digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last 16 games she's played.

Alpine had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 14-25, 25-20, 30-28, 25-12.

Alpine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Kinkade led the charge by getting 20 kills and three blocks. That's the most blocks Kinkade has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Carrasco, who had 15 kills, three digs, and one block.

Meanwhile, Coahoma came up short against Compass Academy on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Coahoma's loss dropped their record down to 24-12-1. As for Alpine, their victory bumped their record up to 23-16.

Alpine skirted past Coahoma 3-2 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Bulldogs' Bree Lewis, who had 21 kills, six digs, and four blocks. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Bucks still be able to contain Lewis? There's only one way to find out.
