Baseball Recap: False River Comes Up Short

False River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against the Liberty Magnet Patriots, falling 15-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 last Thursday.

Travis Fields and Cruz Pourciau stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fields scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Pourciau went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits Fields has posted since back in February. Matthew Gradfeo was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, False River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

False River's record is now 0-14-1. As for Liberty Magnet, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. False River will head out to face off against Family Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. False River will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Liberty Magnet, they will head out on the road to square off against Madison Prep Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
