Basketball Recap: Allegany Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Allegany won the last time they faced Northern Garrett and things went their way on Monday too. The Allegany Campers came out on top against the Northern Garrett Huskies by a score of 60-51. Given the Campers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Huskies are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marisa Perez, who went 5 for 8 en route to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Perez a new career-high in points. Abby Nelson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Allegany and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Northern Garrett, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Allegany will host Jefferson on Saturday. Allegany is facing Jefferson at the right time seeing as Jefferson is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northern Garrett, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-27 victory against Turkeyfoot Valley Area on the 4th.
