Basketball Recap: Jaquez Wilkes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wadley over Lafayette

Wadley lost against LaFayette back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wadley Bulldogs fell 85-74 to the LaFayette Bulldogs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), Wadley still had to take the loss.

Wadley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaquez Wilkes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most points Wilkes has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Frisco Robertson, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 19 points and four blocks.

Wadley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for LaFayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wadley will take on Notasulga at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for LaFayette, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.
