Volleyball Recap: Yuma Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Five

Yuma Catholic had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Chino Valley Cougars as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Shamrocks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Yuma Catholic was: they took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-9, 25-13.

Annie Scarborough paced Yuma Catholic's offense, picking up 16 kills. Scarborough got some help from Natalie Lawseth and her 32 assists. Lawseth was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Yuma Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 31-4. As for Chino Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Yuma Catholic and ALA - Ironwood will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chino Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
