The home team had won the previous four meetings between West Mesa and Manzano, and West Mesa kept the tradition alive. The West Mesa Mustangs lost 18-8 to the Manzano Monarchs on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Ayden Gonzales made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Juan Salcedo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

West Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Manzano, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

While West Mesa had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
