The Downtown Doral Dolphins are taking a road trip to take on the Palmer Trinity Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Downtown Doral got the win against Somerset Academy South Homestead by a conclusive 11-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dolphins.
Downtown Doral let Sebastian Richards and Robin Liberatore run wild. Richards went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI, while Liberatore scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That triple marked the first that Richards hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madden Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, everything went Palmer Trinity's way against Ransom Everglades on Tuesday as Palmer Trinity made off with an 8-1 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Pedro Castillo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, Nicholas Miraglia and Tommy Barcinas Jr. did most of the damage at the plate: Miraglia went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Barcinas Jr. scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Barcinas Jr. has posted since back in April of 2024. Michael Miraglia was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Palmer Trinity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Downtown Doral now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Palmer Trinity, their record now sits at 7-4.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Downtown Doral has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Palmer Trinity struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Downtown Doral might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Palmer Trinity in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Downtown Doral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
